Holy Trinity Sports Newsletter - Spring 2017

The Spring term has been very busy with lots of sporting opportunities and as you can see below, pupils from Holy Trinity have participated in many different sporting events around Surrey Heath. We have been very proud of the skills and courage shown by the children representing our school. We would also like to say a big THANK YOU to all the parents who have helped with transport and supported the teams… we couldn’t do it without your help.
We delighted to have been awarded the Silver level School Games Mark for the third year running. This recognises our commitment to, and development of competition, school sport and physical education.

If you would like to find out more about these events, please take a look at the Sports noticeboard near the School Office.

Things to look forward to next term: ‘Run the World’ (offering individual certificates), KS1 Multi Skills Festival, KS1 Athletics Festival, KS1 & KS2 Sports Days, Years 3 & 4 Tri Golf, Year 3 & 4 and Years 5 & 6 Quad Kids, to name but a few.

Fitbits: As our children are improving their fitness levels, we have noticed an increase in the number of Fitbits in school. Whilst we encourage and endorse fitness, during PE lessons Fitbits should not be worn in line with our safety policy - like jewellery and watches. Some schools have banned Fitbits altogether.

PE Kit: Please ensure that your child’s PE kit is named during the holidays. After half term your child will be asked to bring in a plain coloured T-shirt to represent their house team, in preparation for Sports Days.

Sports Crew: Our Year 5 & 6 Sports Crew have also been very busy this term creating a new board, which is outside the hall and running 2 volleyball training sessions and a tournament for the whole of Year 4. Next term they will be organising and running some similar events.

Year 6 Lunchtime Leaders: We really appreciate the time and effort that our Year 6 pupils put into running clubs for others. Not only does it give our older children opportunities to develop leadership skills but they share some great teaching skills with the younger children too.
If you have any questions or would like any more information about the above please let us know. Equally if you have a passion for sport and have some spare time either at lunchtime, before or after school to run a club then please get in touch – it doesn’t have to run all term!

Have a great “sporty” Easter,

Mrs McLean and Mrs Hopperton
